One of our most popular products, this hip pack has proved indispensable for so many of our friends around the world.

Built super tough with 100% Cotton 12oz water-resistant canvas and there is also a hidden pocket on the back for you to stash your Passport and Cash.

On the front is a separate velcro pocket for a large smartphone, and the main compartment for everything else.

Designed to be worn on either the waist or over the shoulder, we also supply a 40 cm extender for the strap so it fits tiny waists or big shoulders.

We recommend the Hipster every time somebody tells us they are heading overseas or out to a festival.

I had a snafu with shipping on my end, but the team at Nomad Essentials were extremely cooperative and helpful and even offered to reship the items in the event they returned to them. I received the hip bag and have found it to be really comfortable and easy to wear alongside other bags and equipment. It also feels unobtrusive as it feels like wearing a belt.

    Hello Dean and Marnie
After more than a year of reflection, here I am in the Nomads Essential’s family.
This is not a bag, this is THE BAG! That’s exactly what I wanted.
I am extremely happy and thank you for your patience and all the answers to my emails.
My wife said, “Finally, a bag that fits you !”
This bag is perfect, the material, the size, the comfort, the color.
    Everything is perfect.
I use it every day now.
For a month and a half, it was with me through 10 American States.
From the torrid heat of the Death Valley to the snow of Yellowstone. Always with me.
Thanks again for this super product, I think I’ll buy others. Bigger, smaller, for now I don’t know.
    Good job!
I would like to post a picture that I took just for you, showing the bag in the middle of Death Valley.
    Cheers
    Riccardo

Writing this as a suggestion potential to expand the market for this great pouchmore than a review. If the main pouch was 1-2 inches (2.5-5cm) longer and wider it would be able to hold an ipad mini in a military grade case which is what i would have ideally used it for and would open it up for outdoor/traveling people who would like to do the same.

    It’s AWESOME!

I got mine at Woodford Folk Festival where I was working as a lighting technician, and not only is it the perfect size for my personal items plus a few hand tools, the quality of build and ease of access it offers is unparalleled. It easily stays secure and lets me get to my tools when I’m working on a ladder and has great quality fastenings with tough stitchings that allow me to carabiner on even more items for great utility. It even looks great and shrugs off my rough handling.

Overall I’m extremely happy with my purchase and would not hesitate to recommend Nomad Essentials for any small carry application, work or play. It’s hard to find such quality in this age of fast fashion and cheap manufacturing, so keep up the fantastic work!

Love it. well made, sturdy and very handy. The extra strap option is great. I totally recommend this especially if your travelling and sick of all the bits and pieces in your pockets. Very happy

Buying this bag was one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. I used it every day as a summer camp coordinator and it held keys, matches, Swiss Army knife, a whistle, band-aids, a small notebook, pens, walkie-talkie, and even my 1/2 litre soft-shell water bottle. Even weighed down with all that, the bag remained comfortable to wear and stayed put on my hip – the construction and shape of it is so good, I usually forgot I was carrying it until I needed something! Absolutely can’t recommend Nomad Essentials enough for the quality of the bags, customer service, and shipping speed!

  7. Shirley

Exactly what I was hoping for!! Excellent design and quality. Perfect size, it sits so comfortably on my hip, and I love the extender strap that converts the bag to cross-body. Love, love, love it; thank you 🙂 oh, and super-fast delivery.

I’ve had a Nomad bumbag for some years (still going strong despite the punishment it’s had) and this Nomad Hip Pack is even more useful. The same rock solid construction but larger and with more pockets, the hip pack is wonderfully designed with an awesome velcro attachment and extender strap.
Man! I love it! Buy one!

  9. Luke Johnson

Use mine almost daily and its comfortable, strong and a good size. Definitely the best belt bag Ive ever had and great service as well!

  10. Toby

This hip pack represents everything that I was after in a bag. As a hip pack, it is very comfortable and moulds itself to my body. I can wear it while riding a bike, I can get in and out of the car without having to take it off, and still have access to my phone and gear. Made from very strong material, with excellent quality zippers it is much better quality that I expected. Very happy with the purchase and how quickly it was delivered.

    Highly recommended!!

Great bag. Just the right size and number of pockets for my personal items. I use it everyday (literally) as well as when travelling and camping. It has lasted for two and half years, zippers are now broken and the canvas has a few holes in it so I’ve purchased another. I am very hard on my gear it did well to last that long!

  12. Neil Goss

This is without doubt the best travel bag I have ever had! I travel O/S a lot and have had this bag for over 4 years (I bought it in Queenscliff in 2011) and it is still in excellent shape…no busted zips, rips, etc. Easy to hide under a jacket or “lean” on when walking through crowded places and yet so easy to get stuff out of.
    Great bag!

  13. Mike

Awesome. I treat mine pretty badly. Took it to India and it survived – gotta love the heavy duty zippers. Big enough too. I use the back pocket for my passport and money and the other two pockets for… well … everything else. …
